Fondazione De Fornaris

The Fondazione Guido and Ettore De Fornaris was established in Torino in 1982 based on the will and the bequest made by art patron and collector, Ettore De Fornaris. Since its establishment the Fondazione has been active in the field of art thanks self-financed activities. It acquires paintings, sculptures, installations and sheets of graphic art that are held and displayed by the GAM -Galleria d'Arte moderna e contemporanea di Torino. It currently holds over one thousand works includinf both acquisitions and donations. The collection spans a period from the nineteenth century to the present day, and comprises works by Palagi, Hayez, Pellizza da Volpedo, Morbelli, together with Balla, Casorati, de Chirico, Morandi, de Pisis, Vedova, Melotti, Burri, Manzù, as well as Anselmo, Penone, Pistoletto, Zorio, Merz, Paolini and Cragg
Since 1996 the Foundazione, which is chaired by Piergiorgio Re, organises the "Lunedì dell'arte" (Art Mondays) lecture series, which has now become a city fixture. Recent topics addressed by these lectures have included the management of contemporary art museums in Europe and in Italy, patronage in the twentieth century, large private collections, the restoration of ancient and modern works, landscape architecture and design. 
The Fondazione also publishes catalogues of its acquisitions and other volumes focusing on a variety of art history issues especially issues related to region of  Piemonte. A regular newsletter provides information about the Fondazione activities and programmes.
